Sanatan Dharma holds the Mahakumbh festival in high regard, celebrated every 12 years. In Hinduism, Prayagraj is referred to as the "King of Pilgrimages" because it is the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers, symbolizing immense spiritual energy. The Shahi Snan is the most significant ritual of the Kumbh Mela. This year, the Mahakumbh will feature a total of six Shahi Snans, with the fifth Shahi Snan taking place on the auspicious day of Magha Purnima, February 12. According to scriptures, this day is considered highly auspicious for performing religious rituals. Therefore, during this sacred time, the 11,000 Durga Beej Mantra Jaap, Ashta Lakshmi Yagya and Saraswati Vandana can be profoundly impactful. Scriptures suggest that this unique Tridevi Puja—dedicated to Maa Durga, Maa Lakshmi, and Maa Saraswati—is a divine amalgamation of power, prosperity, and knowledge. It is believed that performing this puja on this sacred day helps restore purity and balance in the body, mind, and soul.
Maha Kumbh, the grandest spiritual gathering in Hinduism, takes place once every 12 years in Prayagraj, the sacred land of Triveni Sangam—where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers converge. This confluence, revered as Tirthraj, is believed to radiate immense spiritual energy. According to ancient scriptures, the Purnima Tithi during this period holds unparalleled significance. Among these, the Maghi Purnima, falling in the auspicious month of Magha is considered extraordinarily sacred for performing rituals, penance, and divine worship. To mark this auspicious occasion, Sri Mandir is organizing 1,25,000 Navarna Mantra Jaap, Durga Saptashati Path, and Nav Chandi Mahahavan at the Shaktipeeth Lalita Mata Mandir near Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj. This revered temple, one of the 51 Shaktipeethas, is believed to be the sacred site where Maa Sati’s finger fell, making it a potent center for divine blessings. The Navarna Mantra is a powerful invocation of Maa Durga, known for removing obstacles and attracting success and blessings. The term "Navarna" is derived from "Nav" (nine) and "Arna" (syllables), signifying the mantra's nine syllables: "Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundaye Vichche."
In Sanatan Dharma, the Mahakumbh festival holds immense spiritual significance and is celebrated every 12 years. In Hinduism, Prayagraj is referred to as Teerthraj (the king of all pilgrimage sites) because it is the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the invisible Saraswati rivers, symbolizing spiritual energy. When Jupiter is in Taurus and the Sun is in Capricorn, the Mahakumbh Mela is held in Prayagraj. In 2025, this alignment occurs, and hence the Mahakumbh Mela is organized in Prayagraj. The Shahi Snan is the most significant ritual of the Kumbh Mela. This year, there will be a total of six Shahi Snans, with the fifth Shahi Snan taking place on the auspicious occasion of Maghi Purnima, which falls on February 12.
